Oneil Cruz sidelined with a hand injury, making him a mandatory fantasy sit

Before landing on the 10-day injured list with metacarpal fractures, Oneil Cruz was highly productive, batting .279 with four homers and five steals over his last 30 days. The fourth-place Pirates, holding a 38-37 record, have shifted Jake Mangum into the starting center field role during Cruz's absence.

Prior to the injury, Cruz was easily outstripping his career baselines, carrying a .264 average with 14 home runs and 17 net steals on the season. Our rest-of-season projections forecast a .234 average and 17 additional home runs once he returns, confirming his status as an elite power-speed asset when healthy.

Pittsburgh has an appealing weekend series at Coors Field against Colorado's high-ERA starting pitchers, but Cruz is expected to remain sidelined until mid-July. Fantasy managers should keep him stashed on injured reserve but must bench him for this scoring period. Verdict: Sit.
