Discussing some of the best hitting performances from July 9.

There was a full 15-game slate of MLB action scheduled for Tuesday, July 9, but only 13 games were played after two postponements.

Cubs 9, Orioles 2

Ian Happ hit a three-run home run for Chicago, while Michael Busch added a solo blast. Busch had four total hits and two runs scored, while Happ had a second hit and run scored, along with a walk.

Nico Hoerner had a hit, RBI and two runs scored for the Cubs. Seiya Suzuki drove in two runs on two hits and scored once. Miles Mastrobuoni had two hits, two walks, a stolen base and a run scored. Cody Bellinger had a hit, walk and run scored, while Christopher Morel had a hit and a walk.

Jordan Westburg hit a solo homer for Baltimore. Adley Rutschman had two hits, while Heston Kjerstad had a hit and a walk.

Guardians 9, Tigers 8 (10 inn.)

Josh Naylor hit a two-run homer for Cleveland, while Angel Martinez added a solo bomb. Naylor finished with three hits, four RBIs, two walks, a stolen base and two runs scored.

Steven Kwan had three hits, a walk and two runs scored for the Guardians. Jose Ramirez had three hits, three walks, two stolen bases, an RBI and two runs scored.

Andres Gimenez drove in two runs on a hit for Cleveland. Tyler Freeman had a hit and a walk.

Gio Urshela hit a three-run homer for Detroit. Colt Keith added a two-run blast, while Justyn-Henry Malloy had a solo homer. Keith finished with two total hits and three runs scored, while Urshela had three total hits and two runs scored.

Riley Greene had a hit and a walk for the Tigers. Zach McKinstry had a hit, walk and stolen base.

Phillies 10, Dodgers 1

Trea Turner hit a grand slam for Philadelphia. Brandon Marsh and Bryson Stott added solo blasts. Turner had three total hits, while Marsh had two hits, a walk, a stolen base and three runs scored.

Rafael Marchan had three hits, an RBI and two runs scored for the Phillies. Johan Rojas had two hits, a stolen base, an RBI and two runs scored. Kyle Schwarber drove in two runs on a hit and a walk, while also scoring once. 

Cavan Biggio hit a solo homer for Los Angeles’ lone run. He also walked in the contest. 

Austin Barnes had two hits for the Dodgers. Will Smith had two hits and a walk. Shohei Ohtani had a hit, stolen base and walk.

Rays 5, Yankees 3

Isaac Paredes hit a three-run homer for Tampa Bay. He also walked in the contest.

Amed Rosario had two hits and a run scored for the Rays. Yandy Diaz and Randy Arozarena each had a hit, walk and run scored, while Arozarena also stole a base.

Ben Rice hit a two-run homer for New York. DJ LeMahieu had two hits, while Aaron Judge and Alex Verdugo had a hit and a walk each.

Reds 12, Rockies 6

Will Benson clubbed a three-run homer for Cincinnati, while Spencer Steer added a two-run shot. Tyler Stephenson and Rece Hinds each had a solo blast. 

Benson finished with two hits and runs scored, Steer walked twice, Stephenson had three hits, two RBIs and three runs scored and Hinds ended the night with three hits and two RBIs.

Santiago Espinal had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored for the Reds. Elly De La Cruz had a hit and a walk, while Edwin Rios had a hit, walk and run scored. 

Brenton Doyle hit two solo home runs for Colorado. Michael Toglia added a two-run blast. Doyle had three total hits and also walked once.

Jacob Stallings had a hit, walk and two runs scored for the Rockies. Hunter Goodman had two hits and an RBI. Nolan Jones finished with a hit, walk and run scored. 

Red Sox 12, Athletics 9

Wilyer Abreu hit a three-run homer for Boston, while Dominic Smith added a solo shot. Abreu also walked once and drove in a fourth run, while Smith walked and scored a second run.

Rafael Devers had two hits, a walk, three RBIs and two runs scored for the Red Sox. Tyler O'Neill had a hit and two runs scored. 

Boston’s David Hamilton had two hits, a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Masataka Yoshida finished with two hits, an RBI and a run scored. 

Zack Gelof and Lawrence Butler hit three-run home runs for Oakland. Gelof had three hits, four RBIs and two runs scored total, while Butler had a second hit and stole a base.

Brent Rooker totaled two hits, two walks, an RBI and three runs scored for the Athletics. Miguel Andujar had two hits and runs scored. Shea Langeliers had two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Max Schuemann had a hit, stolen base and walk.

Mets 7, Nationals 5

Brandon Nimmo hit a three-run blast for New York, while Francisco Lindor clubbed a two-run homer. Lindor had three hits, three RBIs, a walk and two runs scored in total.

Harrison Bader had three hits and two runs scored for the Mets. Jeff McNeil had a hit, walk, RBI and run scored, while J.D. Martinez had a hit and a walk.

Keibert Ruiz and Ildemaro Vargas hit two-run homers for Washington. Luis Garcia Jr. had two hits and a run scored.

Astros 4, Marlins 3

Alex Bregman hit a two-run homer among his three hits for Houston.

Chas McCormick had a hit, RBI, two stolen bases and two runs scored for the Astros. Mauricio Dubon had a hit and a walk. 

Jesus Sanchez and Jazz Chisholm Jr. each clubbed solo homers for Miami. Chisholm had a second hit and run scored, along with a stolen base.

Bryan De La Cruz had two hits, a walk and an RBI for the Marlins. Jake Burger had a hit and a walk.

Pirates 12, Brewers 2

Joey Bart hit a grand slam for Pittsburgh. Bryan Reynolds and Joshua Palacios each had two-run blasts, while Rowdy Tellez and Jack Suwinski hit solo bombs.

Reynolds had a second hit and run scored, Tellez had a second hit and run, along with a walk and Suwinski added a second hit, RBI and run scored and also stole a base.

Nick Gonzales had two hits, a walk, an RBI and a run scored for Pittsburgh. 

Christian Yelich had two walks, a hit and a stolen base for Milwaukee. Jackson Chourio had a hit, walk and run scored.

Willy Adames and Blake Perkins both had a hit and a walk, with Perkins also driving in a run. Adames stole a base.

Rangers 5, Angels 4

Adolis Garcia and Josh Smith hit solo homers for Texas. Smith had three hits and two RBIs total.

Derek Hill had two hits and a run scored for the Rangers. Marcus Semien had a hit, walk, RBI and run scored, while Corey Seager had two walks. 

Logan O'Hoppe hit two solo homers for Los Angeles. He finished with three total hits.

Zach Neto had two knocks for the Angels. Nolan Schanuel had two hits, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored. Anthony Rendon had a hit, walk and run scored.

Braves 6, Diamondbacks 2

Adam Duvall hit a three-run homer for Atlanta. He finished with two hits, a walk and two runs scored.

Marcell Ozuna had two hits and runs scored for the Braves. Jarred Kelenic had two hits, Austin Riley had a hit and a walk and Sean Murphy finished with a hit, walk and RBI.

Gabriel Moreno had a hit, two walks and a run scored for Arizona. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had a hit and a walk.

Mariners 8, Padres 3

Cal Raleigh hit two home runs (both two-run shots) for Seattle, while Julio Rodriguez added a solo bomb. Rodriguez had four total hits, two RBIs and three runs scored, while Raleigh had a third hit and run scored.

Jorge Polanco had two hits, a walk and a run scored for the Mariners. 

Kyle Higashioka hit a two-run blast for San Diego, while Jake Cronenworth added a solo homer. Higashioka also walked.

Giants 4, Blue Jays 3

Heliot Ramos and Tyler Fitzgerald hit solo home runs for San Francisco. Ramos had two total hits, while Fitzgerald also walked and scored a second run.

Brett Wisely had two hits, a stolen base and an RBI for the Giants. Patrick Bailey had two hits and a run scored. 

Ernie Clement hit a three-run homer for Toronto. Danny Jansen walked three times and scored once.
