It’s time for my third fantasy baseball mock draft of the season!

After a 10-team mock and then a 12-team mock, I’m expanding things even further. This is a 14-team 5x5 category setup and I drafted from the seventh spot.

The roster spots are as follows: nine pitchers, three outfielders, one catcher, first baseman, second baseman, shortstop, third baseman and utility spot and then five bench slots.

Round 1 - Jose Ramirez

I would have picked Kyle Tucker, but after taking him in my last mock draft, I wanted to switch things up.

I have Ramirez as my top fantasy third baseman for 2025, and that locks down that position early on for me. Ramirez is a great hitter to build around, especially in a deeper league like this.

Round 2 - Francisco Lindor

I was pretty surprised to see Lindor there for my second pick (22 overall).

He’s my No. 4 fantasy shortstop for this season, but is someone who I think could challenge for the top spot. Hitting in front of Juan Soto is going to do Lindor wonders, and Lindor might be in for a career season.

Round 3 - Logan Gilbert

I’m sorry folks, but I chose Gilbert for a third straight mock. The best available players in this draft were shortstops and third basemen, and I didn’t feel like doubling up at either spot so early.

I also didn’t want to wait another round for a pitcher, so I grabbed Gilbert. I feel good starting my fantasy rotation with him.

Round 4 - Cole Ragans

I got my second pitcher in round 4, taking Ragans.

He’s my No. 9 fantasy pitcher for the season and I think he’s going to build on a very good 2024 season. This could end up being a steal if Ragans is as good as I think he will be.

Round 5 - Josh Hader

Again, in an effort to switch up my players this time around, I took Hader over Devin Williams.

Hader had a rough go of things in 2024, but I expect some improvement from the hard-throwing lefty in 2025. I have him No. 3 at the position, and if he lowers his ERA, he could contend for the top spot.

Round 6 - James Wood

I got another hitter here in Wood. He’s a young outfielder, and a fun player to build around.

He showed flashes of brilliance as a rookie in 2024, and I think he will continue to improve in 2025. Wood would be a major draft steal if he turns into the highly-regarded player he was touted as on his way through the minor leagues.

Round 7 - Robert Suarez

I nabbed another closer here with Suarez. He’s my No. 8 closer for 2025.

In my closer top-10 list, I noted that he could finish a lot higher than eighth, and that I mostly ranked him there with only one big season under his belt. He could be another draft steal if he even lives up to last season.

Round 8 - Brenton Doyle

Doyle was a guy I considered in round 7, so I decided to pick him here in the 8th round.

He’s coming off a 2024 season in which he hit 23 homers and drove in 72 runs, along with stealing 30 bases. Doyle is an underrated fantasy player, and at the pick I got him at, I like the value here.

Round 9 - Salvador Perez

I nabbed Perez in the 9th round. He should have catcher and first base position eligibility, which is big considering I have neither spot covered yet.

Perez showed he has plenty still in the tank last season, and even if he regresses a bit, he’s still a player I could start most days. I really like the value here, and had him as my No. 5 catcher

Round 10 - Matt McLain

I have talked about McLain a few times already this season, so I decided to draft him in a mock. He’s my No. 8 second baseman.

He’s going to fill my 2B spot to start the season. He missed all of last season, but posted good numbers in his rookie season in 2023. McLain is one of my biggest sleepers for the 2025 season, and could be one of the top draft steals by the end of the season.

Round 11 - Shane MClanahan

I got McClanahan in another mock - I just really love the value you get with him. I don’t know how you could look at his career numbers and not have him go several rounds earlier.

Round 12 - Jared Jones

I added to my rotation by taking Jones in the 12th round. He gets overshadowed by Paul Skenes, but he had a pretty good rookie season and hopefully is able to build upon it in 2025.

Round 13 - Shea Langeliers

I’m taking Langeliers knowing I can move Perez to first base if I need to. He’s my No. 7 catcher, and a pretty overlooked fantasy player in my eyes.

Round 14 - Reynaldo Lopez

I grabbed Lopez in the 14th round hoping for a little repeat of his great 2024 season. While that might not happen, I see this as a good value pick regardless.

Round 15 - Alec Burleson

I went with Burleson in the 15th round. I have him as my No. 5 designated hitter, but he’s likely eligible to play first base and in the outfield. It’s a little gamble, but later in a draft, I have no problem taking it, especially because there’s some versatility with him.

Round 16 - Ronel Blanco

I decided on Blanco in the 16th round. I needed more pitching, and he’s a pretty good option. He’s safely in the team’s rotation, for now, and is coming off a big season - if he replicates it, I got another draft steal here.

Round 17 - Jeffrey Springs

I got another pitcher in the 17th round with Springs. I don’t love his situation with the Athletics, but he’s a good fantasy pitcher regardless.

Round 18 - Taylor Ward

I nabbed another outfielder here with Ward. I like him as a depth piece, but would likely be starting him in some fashion to begin the season.

Round 19 - Nestor Cortes

I got another starter here in Cortes. I got him in my last mock as well, saying I hoped Milwaukee would help Cortes enjoy a career season possibly. If he can cover innings and post a respectable ERA, I’d call this pick a win.

Round 20 - Erick Fedde

I went with another pitcher in round 20 in Fedde. He was good last season in stops with two teams, and if he can post a sub 4.00 ERA again, this is another good pick in my eyes.

Round 21 - Max Muncy

I added a little pop here with Muncy. He’s just a bench option to start the season for me, but a hot season could turn him, or another one of my players into a trade chip.

Round 22 - Brendan Donovan

I grabbed the versatile Donovan here in the 22nd round. I like Donovan’s fantasy outlook for the upcoming season, and think he’d work his way into my starting lineup more often than not.

Round 23 - Kyle Harrison

My Harrison pick here in round 23 is more of a gamble than anything. I needed another starting pitcher, and after looking at several options, I chose the younger player who could maybe take a step forward this season over a veteran who we know what to expect from.

Closing Thoughts

I was pretty happy with my final roster here, even though it was graded as a B-.

I think I have enough talent to make some moves if my season were to start slow. There’s a few players I’d be hoping for big seasons from, but nothing too crazy.

I would like another go at a 14-team setup, and will definitely try one before the season. Check back for that, and much more fantasy baseball content!
