There were just five MLB games played on Thursday, Aug. 1, but it’s still worth discussing the top fantasy players from the day.

Here are the writeups from Wednesday (hitters and pitchers).

Guardians 10, Orioles 3

David Fry and Bo Naylor each hit a three-run home run for Baltimore, while Jose Ramirez added a two-run blast. Ramirez had two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored total, while Naylor had an additional hit, two walks and a second run scored.

Lane Thomas had two hits and runs scored for the Guardians. Steven Kwan delivered two hits and scored a run. Brayan Rocchio had a hit and a walk.

Ben Lively picked up the win on the mound for Cleveland and moved to 10-6. He allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over six innings, while striking out four batters. Lively has his earned run average down to 3.42 for the season.

Cade Smith earned a hold before the Guardians blew the game open.

Trevor Rogers allowed five runs on six hits and three walks over 4 1/3 innings in his first start for Baltimore. He struck out three and now has a 2-10 record and 4.76 ERA for the season.

Anthony Santander hit a solo home run for Baltimore. Gunnar Henderson had two hits and an RBI, while Colton Cowser had a hit, walk and run scored. 

Royals 7, Tigers 1

Vinnie Pasquantino hit a pair of home runs (a two-run shot and solo blast) to lead Kansas City at the plate. Bobby Witt Jr. added a solo shot. He had a second hit, RBI and run scored, along with a walk.

Freddy Fermin had two hits and an RBI for the Royals. Michael Massey had a hit, was plunked by a pitch and scored a run. 

Seth Lugo got the win on the mound and improved to 13-5 on the season. He gave up a run on four hits and a walk over eight innings, while striking out three. His ERA is down to 2.57 for the season.

Keider Montero fell to 1-5 after pitching the first seven innings for Detroit. He gave up four runs on six hits and a walk, while striking out three batters.

Colt Keith and Wenceel Perez each had a hit and a walk for Detroit. Keith also scored a run.

Braves 4, Marlins 2

Matt Olson hit a two-run homer for Atlanta, while Austin Riley and Orlando Arcia provided the other runs on solo homers. 

Marcell Ozuna had two hits and a run scored for the Braves.

Charlie Morton got the win on the mound after striking out six over six innings. He allowed an unearned run on five hits and two walks. Morton’s ERA is down to 3.94 for the season.

Dylan Lee, Luke Jackson and A.J. Minter all earned holds before Raisel Iglesias picked up his 23rd save of the season.

Max Meyer took the loss for Miami. He gave up four runs on seven hits and a walk over five frames, while striking out seven.

Jake Burger had two hits, a walk and an RBI for Miami. Xavier Edwards had a hit and a walk.

Cubs 5, Cardinals 4

Cody Bellinger and Seiya Suzuki hit solo bombs for Chicago in its comeback win over St. Louis. Both players finished with two hits, while Bellinger also scored a second run. Bellinger’s homer came in the ninth, when the Cubs scored three runs.

Chicago’s Dansby Swanson drove in two runs on two hits and a walk, while also scoring once. Nico Hoerner had two hits, a stolen base and a run scored. 

Shota Imanaga started for the Cubs, allowing four runs on 10 hits over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked none. Imanaga has a 3.09 ERA for the season.

Nate Pearson eventually got the win. He worked two scoreless innings.

Sonny Gray started and struck out nine over seven innings for St. Louis. He gave up two runs on five hits and a walk.

JoJo Romero earned a hold for the Cardinals. Ryan Helsley blew the save and took the loss. Helsley allowed three runs on four hits.

Masyn Winn hit a two-run homer for St. Louis, while Paul Goldschmidt added a solo blast. Winn had two hits, while Goldschmidt finished with three knocks and two runs scored.

Michael Siani had two hits and a run scored for the Cardinals. Nolan Arenado had two knocks and an RBI, while Tommy Pham also had two hits. 

Rockies 5, Angels 4 (10 inn.)

Jake Cave hit a game-tying two-run homer in the ninth inning for Colorado. Michael Toglia had a two-run blast earlier in the contest. Toglia finished with two hits.

Brendan Rodgers had two knocks and a run scored for the Rockies. Jacob Stallings walked once and was also hit by a pitch to reach again.

Ryan Feltner allowed three runs on seven hits and a walk over six innings for Colorado. He struck out three and walked one.

Victor Vodnik eventually got the win, while Tyler Kinley worked the 10th to grab his sixth save.

Carson Fulmer struck out eight over six innings in his start for Los Angeles. He allowed two runs on three hits and a walk.

Jose Quijada and Ben Joyce earned holds before Hunter Strickland blew the save. Hans Crouse took the loss after allowing an unearned run in the 10th.

Logan O'Hoppe hit a two-run homer for Los Angeles. Mickey Moniak added a solo shot among his two hits.

Michael Stefanic had two knocks as well for the Angels. Nolan Schanuel had a hit, walk and run scored.
